Having fun is a luxury that grown adults can’t afford much.
By the time we graduate college, landing a job to pay down student loan debt is vital, on top of finding an apartment, a car, and being able to pay your bills every month.
Then, what if you meet someone special? Suddenly you’re in love, getting married, and pregnant with your first child.
Most of these things I’ve partially done and the rest I dream about (well, at least, the falling in love part).
When I first began my list the driving force was to soul-search but also grow up a little.
Most of my twenties were spent avoiding some form of responsibility, until eventually I grew to like my job, the place I lived, and the type of friends I have.
I became comfortable and developed a routine, never questioning that teddy bears on my bed or the childish antics that Max and I get into (popcorn fight anyone?) might need to change.
Then suddenly I began losing some weight and seeing that it was time to shed my child-like ways and expand my horizons.
Wouldn’t you know it, growth and growing up are two different concepts!
One makes you feel more like a kid again and the other makes you see the restrictions that hold you back.
I’m enjoying growing up, but the playful part was missing.
So, why not go solo to a major event like a wedding with butterflies in my belly, a flimsy cover story, and end up dancing with the bride’s cute cousin?
The worst that can happen is I am discovered and thrown out, yet the best that can happen is I meet interesting strangers, eat a delicious buffet and some wedding cake, shake hands with the happy couple, and run off into the night giggling like a kid that just got away with something fun, but harmless!
As I explore myself more, being daring is something new and exciting to me. Heavy women are always painted as miserable, that if only we had a certain body, being cheeky would naturally follow.
I’m learning everyday that in order to accept me as I am, it’s perfectly okay to be a little mischievous. Single Wide Females deserve flirtatious fun like anyone does.
What do you say, ladies, will you choose a special event or night to sparkle in a dress and a sly wink?
Love,
Sammy
