If there’s anything that a cooking class can teach you, it’s to be passionate.
Okay, maybe the teacher taught me a little bit about that too. Before I stepped inside, I was rigid and focused only on what I couldn’t do right.
My life seemed to have come to a grinding halt. But when those aromas tickled my nose, I came alive.
Actually, I realized that I’d never lost my vim for life in the first place. That made me think about how easily I’d given up my freedom and spontaneity. It’s so easy to pile burdens upon your shoulders and assume that you are sinking.
Caught up in the pressures of life, I’d forgotten to live. Instead, I’d become more and more tense as I tried to complete all of the items on my checklist. I wasn’t allowing myself to be happy.
But during my cooking session, something long buried was unleashed in me. A seductive, free spirit.
I’m learning that passion is about getting a little messy, playing in the mud, or dancing in the rain, to remind us that we’re still in there.
Too often as women we’re pushed into roles that we’re not ready for. There’s a certain amount of pressure not to seem silly, or childish, while the men in our lives are encouraged to be as playful as they please.
Instead of standing back and shaking our heads, maybe it’s time to join in on the fun. Life doesn’t have to settle into a rut. We can decide to liven it up with.
Cooking, or anything we try, is not about how perfect we do it, but how much feeling we put towards it.
So what are you waiting for? What are some things that you do that set you free?
Love,
Sammy
